DUIMOTORCYCLE DRIVER CHARGED WITH DUI FOR FATAL ACCIDENT

December 21, 2020

A recent motorcycle accident led to a woman’s death and a man’s arrest. Police arrested and charged a Virginia man for his alleged role in a fatal motorcycle accident. He is facing multiple criminal charges, including a single count for DUI. He is also charged with DUI manslaughter.

Police say that they first responded to the scene of a motorcycle accident at approximately 5 a.m. one morning in early Dec. 2020. Although the nature of the crash is not clear, police discovered at least two victims — the 34-year-old man who had been driving the motorcycle and his 21-year-old female passenger. Officials say that the woman died while still at the scene of the accident. No other vehicles or victims appeared to be involved in the collision.

The man was transported to the hospital and received treatment for injuries that were not considered life-threatening. He was later released, and police found him at an area residence where they arrested him without any issues. Police believe that he was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

There are several methods that police use to determine whether a driver is under the influence of alcohol, such as Breathalyzer, blood and field sobriety tests. Virginia defendants who are facing DUI charges often believe that it is impossible to fight their charges based on their blood alcohol content results of these tests, but this is not the case. Regardless of a defendant’s recorded BAC, creating a strong criminal defense platform is a good first step to fighting charges and maintaining driving privileges.
